How to restore your website files, databases or emails from our automated backups
Texo maintains automated daily, weekly and monthly backups of every hosting account. Using the Texo Restore tool in your cPanel, you can restore your own website files, databases or email at any time — without needing to contact support.
Accessing Texo Restore
Restore by Date (Recommended)
The Restore by Date tab is the easiest way to restore your site to a specific point in time.
- Select the date you’d like to restore to using the date picker (you can choose any date within the last two months)
- Click Find Backups
- The tool will find the closest available backup for your website files and each of your databases and display them with their actual backup dates
- Tick or untick each item depending on what you want to restore
- Click Restore Selected
- Review the confirmation prompt — it will list exactly what will be overwritten
- Click Restore Now
The restore runs automatically. For large sites, website file restores can take several minutes — keep the browser tab open until it completes.
Website Files Tab
Restores your entire public_html folder from a specific snapshot.
- Daily snapshots are taken each day and kept for approximately 21–30 days
- Weekly and monthly snapshots are also available where applicable
- Snapshots are listed newest first
- Clicking Restore will replace all your current website files with that snapshot’s contents
Note: This overwrites your current files. If you have made recent changes you want to keep, download a copy first via the File Manager or FTP before restoring.
Databases Tab
Restores a specific MySQL database from a backup dump.
- If you have multiple databases, select the one you want to restore from the dropdown
- Dumps are grouped by date — rows with a light grey background share the same backup date
- Two dumps per day are typically available (taken at 05h00 and 17h00)
- Click Restore next to the dump you want, then confirm
Note: Restoring a database completely replaces all current data in that database. If you are unsure which dump to use, the most recent dump before the issue occurred is usually the right choice.
Email Tab
Restores your email mailboxes from the most recent backup copy.
- The backup date and size are shown before you confirm
- Emails received after the backup date will be lost after a restore
- Click Restore Email, then confirm to proceed
Things to Know
- All restores are permanent and cannot be undone — always review the confirmation screen carefully before clicking Restore Now
- Website file restores can take a very long time for large sites — do not close the browser tab while a restore is in progress
- Database and email restores typically complete within a few minutes
- If you see an error message, note the text and contact Texo support — errors are also logged on our servers for investigation
